visible mending/Reconciliation

This series was created for the Truth and Reconciliation exhibition at the Art Gallery of Bancroft. By cutting into and then stitching my landscapes back together visibly, and slightly askew, I’m acknowledging that repairs cannot erase history’s shame, but instead could be part of creating something new: there is hope inherent in mending.

I’m donating 25% of the proceeds from these paintings to Water First, a group that uses education and collaboration to address water issues in Indigenous communities in Canada.
